6 December 2017: Johnny Hallyday has died. The French Elvis, as he was often referred to. Check out his more than excellent version of ‘Nashville Blues’ in a duet with Don Everly, here.
8 August 2017: Glen Campbell has died. Glen Campbell played on numerous Everly Brothers recordings as a session musician, and with Phil Everly and Carole King he got together as the Keestone Family Singers during an abandoned Everly Brothers recording session in 1962. Rolling Stone article.
13 November 2016: Leon Russell has died. He worked on several Everly Brothers albums, played harpsichord on ‘Man With Money’ and the Everly Brothers partly recorded ‘Lord Of The Manor’ at his Skyhill Studios, plus the lost ‘Portuguese Bend’ and the unissued ‘Carolyn Walking Away’. Reuters article.
7 November 2016: the great and brilliant Leonard Cohen had died. A great loss to the world of music.
Alain Fournier’s new book on The Everly Brothers: The Everly Brothers – Deux Enfants Du Rock. (Scheduled for around 25th June.) Over 500 pages and more than 100 pictures – many of them from Alain’s personal collection. Plus a discography on 58 albums. It is Alain Fournier’s history with the Everly Brothers.

As Dick Rivers describes it in this preface, “It’s impossible to imagine the world of rock ‘n’ roll, country, and pop music in general without the repertoire of the Everly Brothers”. Like Buddy Holly and the King’s ‘Love Me Tender’, they added nobility and tenderness to a music that wasn’t – only – to rebel.
In France, who else but Alain Fournier could deliver a detailed masterpiece like this? Born in 1943, a former physical education teacher, correspondent of the Everly Brothers International Fan Club (EBI) since 1974 and president of Country Music Memorial, Alain offers us a look into his personal archives, his expertise, his memories….and his passion.

Guy Clark has died. The Everly Brothers recorded Clark’s ‘Nickel For The Fiddler’ and Don sang backup on Guy Clark’s 1978 solo album on the tracks ‘Comfort and Crazy’ and ‘Fools For Each Other’. See this article in The Tennessean.
